SAVED BY DENIAL

Peter a foremost disciple and a key figure in religious circles lied to save his hides when it mattered most; he had been told before hand by his master, that is denial was in hand. Though tried to convince his master that he wouldn't but it was glaring.
With the spate of attacks it was only natural as it is with many; survival was upper most in his heart and hence "I don't know him" was the word of choice. With the mob and tempers flaring any other answer would have spelled doom for the fellow, this he was fully aware of.
Many reading this may have been in such situations before or probably in one right now, where denial of a known fact is apt to prevent you from appearing at heavens gate.
So it was in the sixteenth century, when a violent reaction against protestant reformation erupted in Italy. Catholicism was the order of the day and was to be defended by the pope by all means possible, this saw to the fingers of men like Galileo and others getting burnt. They were bent on destroying atheism and inquisitions. A very notable character that escaped the scourge was Campanella, an adent follower of the materialist Doctrine of roman philosopher Epicurus.
He was thrown in prison for his heretical beliefs (he saw spirituality and miracles as a means of driving fear into the hearts of followers). It even resulted in the use of the infamous le veglia torture method.
He faced probable execution for heresy, and his life was precious to him, a change of strategy was iminent, if he were to continue with oxygen and the sun.
First was to feign madness (which fooled his captors), which was blamed for his beliefs, secondly he released a book totally opposite to his former disposition which was the master card that earned him freedom, and finally a book which was a carefully crafted art, that put him 'sitting on the fence' in religious terms, he was totally ironical, with his belief being the undertone. With such denial, he was able to save his life and preserve his belief.
There are always ways to beat the gun and still maintain your head on your shoulders, the FAQ is can you go the extra mile?
