NIGERIA BECOMES AFRICA’S LARGEST ECONOMY

Recent reports released have shown that Nigeria is now Africa's largest economy. Nigeria was said to have recorded 89.22% growth in GDP (Gross Domestic Product) in 2013 making it the largest economy in Africa
and 26th in the world. This position was recently occupied by South Africa. This report was asserted by Nigeria's finance minister and the coordinating minister of the economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, in a press conference yesterday.
However, despite this statistic, the finance minister acknowledged the high rate of unemployment and level of poverty in the country. A perfect example was the recent NIS (Nigeria Immigration Service) job interview recently conducted, of which the dusts which emanated from it is yet to settle. With the physical evidence seen and reflected in our everyday lives, can we say this status recently achieved by Nigeria is truly reflecting on her citizens? I leave you to answer.
