FG TO PAY DAMAGES TO SANUSI

A federal high court sitting in Lagos has yesterday, 3rd April, ordered the federal government to pay the suspended governor of the central bank of Nigeria, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, N50 million as damages.

The court, in a judgment delivered by Justice Ibrahim Buba, on the suit filed by Sanusi for the enforcement of his fundamental human rights, also declared as unlawful his arrest and seizure of his international passport on the 20th of February. The respondents in the suit were the attorney general of the federation, the Inspector general of police, the department of state services, DSS.

Can this decision reached by the court be said to be an actual victory for the suspended CBN governor? Only time will tell.
